The BSM Ambulatory Surgery Center provides outpatient orthopedic surgery in connection with the Beaver Sports Medicine clinic. The project, which I worked on with MOA Architecture, included the design of the two operating rooms and eight patient-prep/recovery stations, as well as all of the support facilities such as equipment storage, sterile work areas and the staff room. We also worked with several suppliers and manufacturers to specify surgical equipment.

The surgery center was being built in an existing building, so it required several upgrades to structural and life-safety systems to account for the increased risks involved with a surgery center. In addition to the design, we also helped facilitate the regulatory approval process, including applications to the State Health Department and Fire Marshal and the city planning department review to gain zoning approval.
