White Steeple Gallery

February 2012 | Silverton, OR

The White Steeple Gallery is an art and performance space in a historic church building in Silverton, Oregon. I worked on two small additions on this building. The first was an added balcony above the front doors. While the balcony is primarily utilitarian, serving as a catwalk for sound and lighting equipment and as access to the attic, it was carefully designed to blend with the existing details, and it creates a striking visual element in the gallery space.

The second addition was a covered entry space into the basement. The existing entry was simply a tacked-on shed roof and required navigating a tight corner to get in and out. The new entry is much more open and is more in keeping with the historic details of the building.
